Professional learning session

The Digital Learning Lab offers custom professional learning experiences for school districts, educational organizations, and institutions of higher education seeking practical, research-based guidance on AI for teaching and learning.

Our work is grounded in decades of research on learning, equity, and educational technology, and is designed to help educators move beyond hype toward responsible, effective, and context-sensitive uses of AI.

What We Offer

We design and deliver tailored professional learning that meets institutions where they are. Engagements can range from invited talks and interactive workshops to multi-session professional learning programs aligned with district or institutional goals.

Typical Focus Areas

Productive & Ethical AI Use

Productive and ethical uses of generative AI for teaching and learning across disciplines and contexts.

Academic Integrity

Supporting student AI use while maintaining academic integrity and authentic learning experiences.

Curriculum Design

AI-supported curriculum design and instructional planning that enhances teaching effectiveness.

Equity & Inclusion

Equity, access, and inclusion in AI-mediated learning environments for all students.

Policy & Guidance

Policy, guidance, and institutional decision-making around AI implementation and use.

Diverse Learners

Considerations for diverse learners, including special education contexts and accessibility needs.

All sessions are adapted to the audience (K–12 or higher education), grade levels or disciplines, and local context.

Engagement Formats

We offer flexible formats to meet your institution's needs:

Invited Talks & Keynotes

Engaging presentations for conferences and large-group professional development.

Interactive Workshops

60–90 minute hands-on sessions with practical strategies and activities.

Extended Learning Sessions

In-depth sessions with leadership or administrative Q&A and follow-up.

Customized Programs

Multi-session professional learning programs aligned with your institutional goals.

Optional Follow-Up Supports

Resource sharing, additional sessions, or policy/guidance review as needed.

Professional learning workshop

Sessions may be delivered in person or virtually, depending on needs and availability. Materials are provided for participants' internal educational use following the session.

Our Approach

Our professional learning emphasizes:

Research-Based Practices

Grounded in evidence, not tools alone—we focus on pedagogy and learning science.

Practical Strategies

Actionable approaches educators can use immediately in their classrooms and institutions.

Thoughtful Risk Engagement

Honest discussion of risks, limitations, and ethical considerations of AI in education.

Contextual Alignment

Alignment with your institutional values, policies, and constraints—no one-size-fits-all solutions.

Rather than offering one-size-fits-all solutions, we work collaboratively with partners to ensure relevance, rigor, and impact.
